UPMC in Central PA is seeking an experienced full-time Neurosurgical PA to join our growing Neurosurgery and Neuro-Interventional program.  Our Advanced Practice Providers play an integral role in helping to provide high quality, compassionate care to patients in our community. 

Practice Details:

  • Advancing Neurosurgical Program; cranial, spine, endovascular and peripheral nerve offerings.
  • Collegial team of 4 neurosurgeons, 5 APP’s
  • Outpatient clinic, inpatient rounding, neuro-interventional and OR responsibilities
  • Monday – Friday schedule with overnight and weekend call responsibilities shared equally
  • Epic EMR system-wide

Professional Skills

  • Two years of neurosurgical experience or three years of APP experience in another surgical specialty required
  • Prior experience with evaluation and treatment of patients with neurological disorders
  • Must be a graduate of an AMA approved Advanced Practice Provider program and be board certified by the appropriate entity. 
  • Current registration with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs
  • BLS certification required.  ACLS certification preferred.
  • ENLS education is required within the first year of employment.

Project Description The AANS APP Education Subcommittee is seeking volunteer faculty to contribute to the expansion of AANS APP education resources. Faculty will work with AANS Staff and Course Directors to create online modules tailored to the educational needs of neurosurgical Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. Project or Volunteer Experience Requirements Neurosurgeon, Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner, Neurosurgical Physician Assistant, Neurosurgical Resident, or Pharmacist Experience developing presentations and educational resources Familiar with the role of APPs (NPs and PAs) on neurosurgical teams Project Tasks Develop an educational module specific to neurosurgical APPs. Draft presentation on assigned neurosurgical technique adhering to production deadlines and expectations. Able to demonstrate neurosurgical procedures and draft posttest questions to accompany module. Faculty will receive public credit on course modules when published.
